Love them or hate them, the fact is thunderstorms are fascinating. That’s why our SERVPRO Wakefield team thought it would be fun to highlight some facts about thunderstorms in this week’s storm-themed blog post.

- There are an average of 2,000 thunderstorms happening right now all over the globe.
- Planet Earth hosts approximately 16 million thunderstorms annually, with about 100,000 occurring in the United States.
- And we’re not alone. Planets like Jupiter also experience lightning and NASA research has shown possible evidence of lighting on the Red Planet, Mars.
- A typical thunderstorm measures about 15 miles in width and has an average duration of 30 minutes.
